External Degree Convocation Ceremony and Award Ceremony of year 2024

The University of Colombo, Centre for Open and Distance Learning, conducted its seventh External Degree Convocation and Award Ceremony for the year 2024 at the Vidya Jyothi Prof. V.K. Samaranayake Memorial Auditorium, University of Colombo School of Computing, on March 15, 2025.

The event was held with the participation of the Venerable Chancellor, Sasana Keerthi Sri Buddha Sasana Shobhana Venerable Muruththettuwe Ananda Nayaka Thero, the Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunaratne; Dean of the Faculty of Science, Senior Professor (Chair) Upul Sonnadara; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Vidya-Jothi Vajira H.W. Dissanayake; the Registrar, Mrs. K.C.S. Perera; the Director of the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, Prof. I.M.K. Fernando; and members of the academic, administrative, and non-academic staff.

During the award ceremony, 05 diplomas were conferred. At the convocation ceremony, 79 Bachelor’s degrees were awarded, including 07 First Class, 10 Second Upper Divisions, and 12 Second Lower Divisions. Gold Medals for the Best Student were awarded to K.A.D.T. Kahandawala for the BSc (External) in Financial Engineering and to A.H.T.G. De Silva for the BSc (External) in Electronics and Automation Technologies.
